Description
The steel pattern is formed by crucible reduction of magnetite sand into 4.5% carbon cast iron buttons. These buttons are then layered between bars of antique wrought iron and forge-welded together. The process of adding more cast iron buttons, folding, and forge welding is called the Brescian method. It produces a layered look and a high carbon steel. It is not stainless steel.
4-1/8 inch blade, 1-3/16 inches wide. Approximately 250 layers.
Nickel-silver guard and spacer with copper accent spacer.
Sambar stag handle and nickel-silver pommel cap.
Hand tooled and sewn leather sheath.
